For the first time, researchers from University of Calgary have found scientific basis of MS remission in pregnancy. Animal study involving pregnant mice showed increased level of Prolactin hormone during pregnancy promotes myelin production and thereby protect against demyelinating episodes. Although it is debatable whether prolactin has any potential for MS therapy, scientists expect to conduct clinical trials in coming years.
